In this video, we're going to review how to connect your tablet to your smartphone when your truck’s wifi is not working.
On occasion, your truck’s wi-fi may stop working. In situations like these, it’s important to note that your company-issued work phones have built in hot-spots that can serve as a backup until the truck can be diagnosed later.
If you find yourself in this situation, you’ll first need to note any wi-fi issues on your post-trip so it can be addressed by our fleet maintenance team.
Next, you’ll need to locate your iPhone and navigate to the settings icon. From here, we’ll locate the personal hot spot section from the navigation. Once clicked, we’ll need to make sure “Allow Others to Join” is enabled. This will activate the hot spot and provide the password which you’ll need to connect your tablet with. To make things easier, you may want to change the password to something easier to type in later. You can change the password by clicking wi-fi password and typing in something easier that you’ll be able to remember. Once updated, click done.
With the hotspot enabled, grab the tablet and navigate to the home screen. Next, slide down from the top of your tablet by placing your finger on the top of the screen and pulling down. This will pull down the device’s system preferences. With the preference menu open, tap the wi-fi icon, the button with three lines that form an upside-down triangle, on the left side of the menu. This will open the tablet’s wi-fi settings and a list of available networks will be displayed.
To connect to the appropriate network, look for your personal Hotspot from the drop down list. For this example, we see iPhone 162.
Once the appropriate network is selected, enter the Wi-Fi network password, which should be listed on your Smartphone’s personal hotspot menu. Go ahead and type that password in and click “ok.” This should automatically connect the tablet to your iphone’s hot spot. Confirm it’s connected by looking to the upper right hand of your device and seeing that the wi-fi icon is indeed present.
Once connected, you can go ahead and open the MobilePak app and begin your day.
